Gathering Your Supplies

Before you begin, gather all the necessary materials. You’ll need the following essentials:

  • Wax (I choose a combination of soy wax and beeswax)

  •  A wick
  • Essential oils
  • A microwave-safe container or double boiler
  • A cocktail glass
  • A wick holder or kebab stick
  • Fruit-shaped ice cube

Making a Cocktail Candle with Wax: A Simple Guide

This cocktail candle is a great conversation starter and a delightful addition to your space. So, why not try it and let your imagination run wild as you craft your very cocktail candle?

Preparing the Mold

The first thing I did was carve an opening into the ice cube and empty its contents.

Melting the Wax

Now, I put my soy and beeswax in a double boiler, or you can use a microwave-safe container.

Preparing the Glass

Until your wax is melting, you want to remove any labels from your cocktail glass and use a glue gun to apply the hot glue to the wick.

Creating the Wax Cherry

I then melted my choice of crayon colors ( red crayon) in a paper mug in the oven. I filled the ice cube mold with the red crayon to create a cherry.

Top Coat

Carefully pour the wax into your cocktail glass. Leave a small amount of wax for top-offs after the initial pour hardens.

Adding Color to Your Wax

Next, add your chosen color to the wax and pour it into the glass. To create a gradient effect, wait for the first layer of wax to set before adding a lighter color on top. Repeat this process with plain wax once the second layer has set.

Securing the Wick

To prevent the wick from falling into the wax, I used a kebab stick to hold the wick up while pouring the wax.

Extracting the Wax Cherry

I then used scissors to remove the wax from the reusable ice cube mold.

Candle Garnishing

Once the candle has cooled and hardened, add cherries to the rim. I pushed it down to make the cherry appear to be floating, then added more wax to keep it in place permanently.

Trim the Wick

Once the candle is dry, trim the wick to about a quarter of an inch.
